Portugal, 20th century, 1940s, mining exploration is expanding in the Center and North of the country, with a particular focus on tungsten, a mineral that was used for the production of steel and other metallic alloys, essential for the production of weapons . Sustained by a single-party dictatorial regime and a Europe on the boil, in the middle of the Second World War, Salazar tries through diplomatic juggling to reinforce Portuguese neutrality in the conflict, but ends up negotiating the exploration and sale of wolfram, with the Germans and the allies.
