In 1840, in the aftermath of the Portuguese Civil War, a young man arrived in a Douro village and brought with him a book full of stories. Following the teachings of this book, the people founded a movement led by the healer Maria das Neves. Based on a true story, Amândio Anastácio and João Garcia Miguel explore the human ability to speak to the gods within us. A play about courage and the power of a book to transform a community.
